Japan’s turmoil

In Japan there are growing concerns that one of the cores in the nuclear reactor in Fukushima might have suffered sever damage which could lead to an uncontrollable radiation leak. Hundreds of engineers are working in Fukushima in an attempt to stop any further escalation in the reactor. There are still high radiation levels in the vicinity of the reactor.

Due to the tsunami attack, Japanese officials state the number of dead has risen to over 10,000 and missing people and more than 17,500 are still missing.

Early estimates of the damage by the tsunami are at over 300 billion US dollar; Finance Minister of Japan said that the government will need to increase the current budget to allocate funds for rebuilding the damage.
